To rename using the right mouse button (Properties):
1. Locate the file you want to rename.
2. Right click the file.
3. Select 'Properties' from the Pop Up Menu.
4. Select General.
5. Type the new name. [NB: You may have to delete the highlighted old
name before typing the new name].
6. Press Enter key or click on any free space.
To rename using the left mouse button:
1. Locate the file you want to rename.
2. Left click on the name of the file.
3. Type the new name. [NB: You may have to delete the highlighted old
name before typing the new name].
4. Press Enter key or click on any free space.
NB: A file name can contain up to 255 characters, including spaces. File
names cannot contain the following characters: \ / : * ? "<> |
Reasons for renaming a file
To reflect the content of the file
When two or more files have the same names
It’s less confusing when shared
Easy to find files later
Easy to search for
Moving (Copying / Cutting) a file
1. Locate the file you want to Move.
2. Right click the file.
3. Select 'Copy'/ ‘Cut’ from the Pop Up Menu.
4. Locate the folder or disk you want to place the file into.
5. Right click the folder
6. Select 'Paste' from the Pop Up Menu.

1. Select the file you want to Move
2. Click the file to select it
3. Click 'Copy' / ‘Cut’ from the Standard Toolbar
