The purpose of a website can be almost anything: a news platform, an
advertisement, an online library, a forum for sharing images, or a place for social
networking!
How does the Internet work? When you visit a website, your
computer sends a request over wires or wireless to a server. A server is
where websites are stored, and it works a lot like your computer's hard
drive. Once the request arrives, the server retrieves the website and
sends the correct data back to your computer. What's amazing is that
this all happens in just a few seconds!
Electronic Mail
E-mail is the service on the internet used to send and receive digital messages on
the internet. E-mail does not require both sender and receiver to be online at the
same time before sending or receiving messages.
Remember that you need to sign-up (register) for an e-mail account and obtain
an e-mail address and password before you can use e-mail services such as
STMP, POP, etc.
File Transfer
File transfer is a service on the internet used to transfer files from one location
to another. There are two actions during file transfer. These are downloading and
uploading.
Downloading means to receive data or files from the Internet onto a
local computer.
Uploading means to send data or files from a local computer to
somewhere on the Internet.
Online Chat
Online chat is any real-time communication between two or more persons over
the internet. During online chat, both sender and receiver of message must be
online.
Types of Online Chat
