Home instructs browser to display the home page of displayed
website
Search searches the web for specific information
Favorites show favorite web pages that the user bookmarked
Mail opens Microsoft Outlook so that the user can read and
compose emails
Print sends print command to printer to print displayed web page.
4. Address Bar is the location where website address is typed
before the web pages of the website are displayed by the web browser. Webpage
is the displayed page by the web browser.
5. Horizontal Scroll Bar is used to move to the left and righ t of a web page.
6. Vertical Scroll Bar is used to move up and down a web page.
7. Status Bar displays the operations of the web browser.
Launching a Web Page
1. Launch a web browser (see above).
2. Delete the existing address in the address bar .
3. Type the address of the web page you want to browse or view.
4. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Remember that when you launch a website using a website address or URL, you
have in effect launched a webpage because a website is made up of web pages.
Uses or Importance of the Internet
The internet is used for:
Teaching and learning
Sending and receiving e- mails
Browsing the WWW for any information
Downloading software, music and videos
Listening to latest music and watching latest videos (entertainment)
Engaging in online banking
Watching television and listening to radio
