Taking Care of ICT tools
A computer and other ICT tools represent a significant investment, so it’s a good
idea to know how to take care of them. Regular maintenance and care will
ensure you get many years of good service. Check out the tips below:
Keep liquids away from your laptop: Keep your drinks away from your
computer. Even if you are careful, someone else might spill your drink.
Keep food away from your laptop: Don't eat over your laptop, the
crumbs can fall between the keys and provide an invitation to small
bugs or damage the circuitry. Worse yet, the laptop will look dirty if
there are crumbs on it.
Ideally keep the computer in a clean and dust free room: Don’t put your
laptop on the floor or the bed. The fans that suck in air to cool down
internal components can also suck up dirt, clogging up the inside and
reducing performance. Cover the computer when not in use.
Keep magnets away from your computers: The hard drives of
computers can be wiped out or damaged by running magnets over
them.
Having antivirus software available is the best defense against a virus.
Regularly scan your computer with certified, up-to-date anti-virus/ anti-
spyware software.
Avoid placing heavy materials, such as books, on top of your
laptop: This can push the LCD screen into the keyboard, and will
eventually damage it. Also, the CD-ROM insert will be squished and,
eventually, will break.
Avoid answering calls when charging phone.
Do not over load socket
Avoid over staying in front of television.
Minimize the volume of the radio and other ICT tools
