ANIES'S DECISION IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE UMP, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING
MORE COMPLICATED!
The revision of the 2022 UMP in DKI Jakarta Province turned out to have a long tail. Apart from
angering the central government, it can also trigger a domino effect in other provinces outside
DKI. This has become a concern for entrepreneurs, because it triggers uncertainty.
Indeed, the Central government through the Ministry of Manpower has reiterated that the
minimum wage setting refers to the Job Creation Law. For this reason, regional heads must
follow the applicable directives from the central government.
The UMP question refers to the Indonesian Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021
concerning Wages as a derivative of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.
“The government is consistent in implementing PP Number 36 of 2021 concerning Wages, and
requires all regional heads to do the same,” explained the Director General of PHI and Social
Security at the Ministry of Manpower, Indah Anggoro Putri in an official statement, quoted
Monday (27/12).
Indah said the Ministry of Home Affairs would also observe the governor’s determination of the
UMP. This also applies to the Head of the Manpower Office (Kadisnaker) at the provincial level
throughout Indonesia.
