I would like to thank my friend Martijn Roos, a photographer, for his time visiting SASANE and
taking wonderful portrait photos of all the women. I have selected a few of those photos to
grace the cover of this book to help it represent the amazing strong women SASANE
supports.
To my friend Kancha of Viraja Books in Kathmandu who recommended my publisher, thank
you for all your support and kindness.
To my printer RK Dongol, thank you so very much for all your guidance and suggestions for
printing the book but most of all, for your patience with the numerous times I edited the book!
Thank you also for working tirelessly to get the book finished and printed before I leave
Kathmandu. I couldn't have done this without all your help!
To Shyam Pokharel (the Managing Director) Indira Gurung (the President) and all the women at
SASANE who supported me with the writing of this book. Thank you for cooking all the dishes,
sometimes two or three times because as a perfectionist, I had to get the photo just right! The
memories of us all laughing whilst trying to write the recipes down in English, trying to establish
the correct measurements and the fun I had making some of the recipes with you will always
make me smile. Of course the best part was eating all the food and learning how the use of
four simple spices can make food so incredibly delicious! Thank you all dearly - I have enjoyed
my time with you all immensely and I hope you are all as proud of this book as me!
Finally to all my friends and family around the world who donated to my fundraising Everest
Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek in November 2016 - the biggest thank you from the bottom
of my heart! The funds raised covered the publishing costs of this book to ensure that 100% of
the proceeds go towards the programs SASANE runs to help rehabilitate survivors of human
trafficking.
Volunteers are always welcome at SASANE to offer their time and skills. For more informative
