Human trafficking is a $150 billion dollar global industry and two thirds of that
money comes from the sexual exploitation of women. SASANE is an NGO in Nepal,
run by survivors of human trafficking, who help rescue and rehabilitate other
young girls who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation or domestic servitude,
teaching them job skills so they can go on to lead independent, dignified and free
lives. This is a collection of their favourite dishes and all proceeds of this book
goes directly back to SASANE so they can continue their important work to help
end human trafficking in Nepal.

About the author and food photographer:
Carolyn Bird is from Adelaide, Australia and has visited
many countries both for work and pleasure. Travelling is
her biggest passion and Nepal holds a special place in
her heart not only for the spectacular scenery of the
Himalayan mountains but also the people, who are
some of the kindest and most genuine people she has
met. Carolyn volunteered for SASANE in 2016 and was
immensely moved by the women’s strength and
dedication, working tirelessly to end the trafficking of
young girls in Nepal.
