On Jan. 24, Officers Kenneth Adair and Daniel Diaz re- sponded to a call of a person stabbed at 729 S. Homan. Once on scene, the officers observed the victim losing a large quan- tity of blood from a laceration he sustained while defending himself during a robbery attempt. The officers ascertained that the victim’s injury could be fatal due to the location of the injury and the amount of blood loss. The officers applied a tourniquet to his leg, stopping the flow of blood. A CFD am- bulance arrived on scene, stabilized the victim and transport- ed him to Mt. Sinai Hospital. The victim was rushed to sur- gery, where it was discovered that his femoral artery had been lacerated. These officers’ actions clearly saved the victim’s life.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 presents these officers with the Life Saving Award.
