CLASS 710 ‘AVENTRA’
JULY4saw No. 710117 return to
Old DalbyfromCrewe,Nos. 37611
Pegasus and57305 Northern Princess
being used forthe move.Six days
later,No. 37611 wasused foranother
‘710’ move,this time with No. 37601
Perseus to haul No. 710119 as the
5Q26/13.17 Old Dalby-Worksop. This
unit, which had been at Old Dalbysince
May16, is the first four-car ‘Aventra’
to be placed in storeatthe HNRCsite.
It wassubsequentlyjoined by No.
710117, which arrived on July18, the
same pair of ‘37s’ being used forthe
unit’s transfer.
No. 710260 wasreleased from
Bombardier on July19, Nos. 37601/611
collecting the unit and moving it as
the 5Q58/09.11 DerbyLitchurch
Lane-Old Dalby.
By mid-July, eight members of the
class(Nos. 710261-267/269) had seen
use on the Gospel Oak to Barking line.
The full timetable of four trains per
hour has nowbeen restored on the
route, with all six diagrams nowbeing
coveredbyClass 710s rather than
shortened Class 378 units.
CLASS 717 ‘DESIROCITY’
THE last unit in storeatWest Worthing,
No. 717025, returned to Hornseyon
July14. One of the twoother sets that
had arrived back from West Worthing
the previous month, No. 717010,
entered trafficonJuly1.

The last unit to be stored at
Cricklewood, No. 717021, arrived back
at HornseyonJune 30. Four other sets
(Nos. 717015/017/019/024) remain in
storeatDollands Moor.
CLASS 745 ‘FLIRT’
JULY19saw the first daytime run from
Norwich to Liverpool Street of one
of Greater Anglia’s newStadler ‘Flirt’ No. 800205(which hassincedeparted,
units when No. 745003 undertook a
run between the twocities. The unit
is the onlyone of threesuch newsets
delivered so fartobeused fortesting,
theothers (Nos. 745002/004) having
been senttothe Mid-Norfolk Railway
forstorage on June 5and June 19
respectively. Also present on the MNR
is No. 745102, which is for‘Stansted
Express’ duties.
Another delivery took place on July
23 when No. 92011 Handel hauled
No. 745005 to Ripple Lane (East
London) from whereNo. 66002took
overtoNorwich CrownPoint.
CLASS 755 ‘FLIRT’
AFURTHER three Class 755 sets arrived
at Norwich CrownPoint on July4when
Nos. 755328/423/424 were brought
north from Ripple Lane by No. 66001.
The previous dayNo. 755407 –which
had been used as atraining unit at
Cambridgesince January –was
returned to CrownPoint by No. 37800
Cassiopeia.Moving in the opposite
direction on July17and hauled by
No. 37608 wasset No.755406.
Having arrived at Norwich Crown
Point from Ripple Lane earlierthat

755404/420/422 were hauled to the
Mid-Norfolk RailwayonJune 27 by
