The Arts of Java Tribes
Wayang Kulit is one of the typical Javanese arts. Wayang Kulit is a Javanese culture that
is believed to have been developed by Wali Songo. Wali Songo are figures who spread Islam on
the island of Java. Wayang kulit is played by a dalang using several tools, such as wayang, banana
sticks for sticking, white cloth and spotlights. Puppet games were played all night long. This
performance is accompanied by Javanese gamelan music and also a sinden singer. The wayang
story itself tells about lessons in life, for example Mahabrata and Ramayana which have been
modified according to Javanese culture.
