Family system
The Javanese kinship system is based on lineage from both father and mother. The kinship
system in Java includes an ego having two grandfathers and two grandmothers, the Javanese know
an extended family (kindred), the rights and position of boys and girls are equal in the eyes of the
law.
Traditional Food
1. Getuk
Getuk is a typical Javanese food made from boiled cassava. Cassava is ground, added with
sugar, then shaped into a square or as needed, and served with a sprinkling of grated coconut. The
presence of mobile getuk sellers has its own uniqueness. They use loud music by playing dangdut
or campursari songs.
