Rengasdengklok

Djiaw Kie Siong's house in Rengasdengklok, Karawang was used as the location of Sukarno-
                                                    Hatta's "kidnapping".

Young fighters, including Chaerul Saleh, Sukarni, and Wikana who were burned to their
heroism after discussions with Ibrahim the title of Datuk Tan Malaka. In the early hours of August
16, 1945, they, along with Shodanco Singgih, a member of PETA, and other young men, brought
Soekarno (with Fatmawati and Guntur who was only 9 months old) and Hatta, to Rengasdengklok,
which later became known as the Rengasdengklok Event. The goal was to prevent Soekarno and
Hatta from being affected by the Japanese. Here, they again convinced Sukarno that Japan had
surrendered and that the fighters were ready to fight the Japanese, whatever the risks.

In Jakarta, the young, Wikana, and the old, namely Achmad Soebardjo, held
negotiations. Soebardjo agreed to proclaim Indonesia's independence in Jakarta. so Yusuf Kunto
was sent to deliver to Rengasdengklok. They picked Soekarno and Hatta back to
Jakarta. Soebardjo managed to convince the youths not to rush to proclaim independence. After
arriving in Jakarta, they returned to their homes. Given that the Hotel Des Indes (now the shopping
complex in Harmoni) could not be used for meetings after 10:00 p.m., rear Admiral Maeda
Tadashi's offer to use his house (now the museum building for the formulation of the proclamation
text) as a place for PPKI meetings was accepted by Indonesian leaders.

Drafting of the manuscript of the Proclamation

In the evening after the Rengasdengklok Incident, Soekarno and Hatta returned to
Jakarta. Major General Moichiro Yamamoto, Chief of Staff of the XVI Army (Army) who became
the Head of the Japanese military government (Gunseikan) in the Dutch East Indies did not want
to accept Sukarno–Hatta who was escorted by Maeda and ordered that Major General Otoshi
Nishimura, Head of the General Affairs Department of the Japanese military government, to accept
the arrival of the group. Nishimura stated that since noon on August 16, 1945, an order had been
