Intravenous infusion label
In these cases, the method of stating the ingredient concentrations is slightly different and
additional warnings are required regarding the use of these products.

GENERAL LABEL FOR EYE DROPS
Eye drops must bear the following labelling requirements:
a) volume of contents (the volume must not exceed 10 mL in any one container)
b) official name of the preparation
c) concentration of active ingredient (usually as %w/v)
d) Name and concentration of any added bactericide (usually as %w/v)
e) directions for use (if any)
f) Auxiliary labels e.g. ‘Sterile until opened’, ‘Use with care to avoid contamination during
use’
g) storage requirements if stated in monograph
h) date of sterilisation
i) expiry date if indicated in the monograph
j) Batch Numbers
k) name of patient (hospital and domiciliary use)
l) date of dispensing
m) ‘For external use only’
n) ‘Keep out of the reach of children’
o) name and address of supplier
When used in a hospital ward (only): ‘To be used for one eye of one patient only’ (or if for a
named patient, in which eye the eye drops are to be used, i.e. left eye or right eye)
