"Mentors have always been an integral part of my personal and
professional journey--I wouldn’t be where I am today without their
patience and support. Since my initial mentor left the company a few
months after the launch of the program, I had the benefit of drawing
on the experience of two mentors. They each shared valuable
knowledge about their respective businesses and the opportunities
and challenges presented by the ongoing disruption in the media
industry. Our discussions were candid and spirited, and I always walked
away from these discussions feeling a little smarter and better
informed, but with even more questions to ponder until our next
meeting. Given my position at the company, there was an immediate
benefit to these conversations, as they enabled me to be more effective
in my communications with analysts and investors.
On a more personal level, I appreciated their willingness to share their
own professional journeys, how they evolved as leaders, and the lessons
they learned along the way. While I didn’t spend the full length of the
program with either of my mentors, I think we more than made up for
the lost time by the depth and quality of time we did spend together."
