Avian Encephalomyelitis (AE)
Caused by : Picornaviridae
Age of infection : First 2 weeks.
Symptoms : Slight egg drop, paralysis,imbalance, ataxia & sitting on hocks, dull expression,
tremor of head, neck,wing.
PM lesions :
Gross(visible) lesions are mild or absent
Focal white areas in gizzard muscle(inconstant)
Cataract eye
Paralysis, prostration Cataract Eye
The normal embryo is at the bottom of the image, with the abnormal embryo at the top. Extensively swollen
cerebellum of the infected embryo can be seen.
