All thanks for the following photo’s go to Jane Williamson on
Mercedes III and Ian Macfarlane skipper of Kingurra. Jane
photo’s are mainly at start time. The only time for Jane to take her
mind off the boat was at the start. After that it was full
concentration to keep Mercedes III, under the helm of Peter Bowe,
moving through the fleet to pick up Kingurra the race line honours
winner.

The same goes for Kingurra. Except for the 30 knot on the wind
instrument display photo it was a quick look around for a snap or
two and then back to the driving Kingurra hard. On a classic
yacht with its longer keels, there’s nothing like being hit by a gust
and taking your hand off the helm to letting the boat go down hard

to its lee gunnel and then point higher and staying in her groove
instead of rounding up.
