In addition to “Maintenance Cleaning”, there is “Spring
Cleaning” (or Occasional Cleaning). Spring Cleaning may
include washing windows or walls or ceilings. Also hand-
wiping baseboards or blinds, perhaps cleaning inside the
refrigerator or the oven. The definition of Spring Cleaning can
be different for different people, but make sure you ask if you’re
not sure if something is Spring Cleaning or Maintenance
            Cleaning.

The 3 type of cleaning is Daily Cleaning. This is putting the
                 rd
dirty dishes into the dishwasher, washing the pots and pans,
putting dirty clothes into the washing machine, folding the
clothes from the dryer, recycling paper, glass and aluminum and
so forth. Obviously, it’s difficult for a housecleaner to do the
Weekly Cleaning (maintenance) if no one is doing the Daily
Cleaning. Once again, be sure to ask if you’re unclear whether a
cleaning task is “Maintenance Cleaning” or Daily Cleaning.

While you’re likely to spend most of your time doing
Maintenance Cleaning, you may be expected to help on Spring
Cleaning or Daily Cleaning jobs. These jobs use a much different
technique than the PMC system so it’s important that you know
which is which. Remember, you’re learning Maintenance
Cleaning (using the PMC system) in this book. Spring Cleaning
and Daily Cleaning will be taught to you later.
