are hugely valuable and important reasons to understand the MERGE, there’s a more fundamental reason that it’s crucial we remain relentlessly and radically curious about the world emerging around us. Staying curious about the MERGE, about what it means, what it will change and destroy, what it will reframe and remould — and what it creates makes thought-leaders of us all.
Being a thought-leader — having an informed point of view on what’s next in your personal corner of the media and communications world — is part of what is it to be a PHDer. With the MERGE, there has never been a more fascinating idea to explore, challenge, debate and crystallise your opinions. It’s a big play pen in which to jump in and challenge your ideas
of what the world will be, look and feel like. The MERGE is not just the forge in which all our futures will be build, it’s a forge in which we can all use curiosity to create the opinions and ideas that make us thought-leaders.
As John Lennon observes in All You Need Is Love, “there’s nothing you can do that can’t be done”.
There’s nothing we can’t imagine, nothing we can’t conceive, nothing we can’t create. We need only the fire of curiosity in the forge of the MERGE to do so.
Welcome to the MERGE
In this edition of The EDIT you can explore the MERGE as never before. Go behind the scenes of Ray Kurzweil’s PHD Cannes presentation, and find out what happened when Susana Tsui met up with
Chris Stephenson Regional Head of Strategy & Planning, APAC
Olly — the creation of entrepreneur and innovator Chelsea Chen. You can read more about three of the Stage III technologies driving the MERGE right now all around us as well as hear direct from some of the authors of MERGE itself — how did they go about exploring the idea of MERGE, and what did they take away from the experience of writing the book.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also our round-up of the best campaigns from the last quarter — in particular the ones that — for us — stood out from the crowd at this year’s Cannes festival. Moreover, there’s
the great mental stimulation and inspiration with thought-leadership essays from all across the region.
Welcome to The EDIT MERGE
special edition. Welcome to the challenges and opportunities it presents. Welcome to a vision
of the future that is already
changing us all. The view has
never looked better. CS
