Chapter 7 Network and E-mail
Setting Up Remote Access
Site Requirements
The following items will be needed at the car wash site to perform the Remote Access configuration
outlined in these instructions.
· Static (unchanging) IP address provided by your ISP. If you don’t know what your IP address
is, contact your Internet Service Provider to ask what it is.
· A router capable of performing NAT – most readily available routers on the market provide
this functionality.
· An established LAN. Existing sites will typically have a Local Area Network already
established.
o A router connected to the Internet through its WAN port.
o Cat-5 cable physically run from the router to the E-1063. Physically measure the
distance from the router to the E-1063 to determine the necessary cable length.
· A laptop or desktop computer connected to the LAN.
Set Up
These set up instructions assume the above site requirements are in place and working properly.
Note: Do not attempt to perform the set up until the site requirements have been
confirmed.
It is also assumed that the desktop or laptop connected to the LAN is running Microsoft Windows.
1. Discover the local network subnet.
a) Access the computer connected to the LAN.
b) Open a command prompt (Click the “Start” button, then “Run”. Enter “cmd” in the
“Open” field and press ENTER.)
c) At the command prompt, type “ipconfig” and press ENTER.
