Semi-trucks aren’t cheap, and they can cause damage that reaches into the hundreds of
thousands of dollars, so it’s easy to understand why owner-operators may want to avoid
being underinsured. However, you don’t want to pay for more than you need.

When you call to get a quote. Remember that you are the customer and that you should be
treated with respect and concern.

How to choose the right insurance carrier for your business.

1. Chose an individual that is knowledgeable of your industry. They should be educating you on the
does and don’ts what’s the best option for a new business.
2. Do they make you feel like you are a valuable client from the beginning, or do they seem to hurry
you along?
3. If they start the conversation off negatively ( “oh that’s going on be expensive.” or “it’s hard to get
insured”)politely excuse yourself from the conversation, as that’s a sure sign that the person you are
speaking is inexperienced and or doesn’t want to the risk. No need to further waste your time with
someone like them.
