Chapter 4
How to Find Dump Truck Jobs
There is no wrong or right way to find work for your truck. The major key is to understand how
much of a need there is (especially here in California) for reliable and dependable dump truck
services.
Below are a few recommendations:
• Attend city events that are directly discussing development or construction projects
currently or upcoming.
• Pull up to local job sites and speak with site management to see if they need additional
trucks for this site or project. They may not need you there, but most construction
companies have multiple projects in varies locations.
• Utilize your social media platform, mainly Facebook groups and LinkedIn, to advertise
your services as well as to see who is looking for help.
• Register with Federal and State agencies for notifications of projects.
Most importantly, remember you are your brand. That means during business hours, always be
professional:
1. Have a business card handy
2. Be dressed in branded uniform
3. Have an elevator pitch rehearsed so when opportunity presents you are ready. In this
day and time, you know when you are speaking to a teenager living off their parent’s
money or the CEO of a billion-dollar company.
Always have an open mind when it comes to building your brand and expanding your business.
always Have a humbled mindset. A small gig can easily turn into the longest project your
company has ever had. It’s not always about your capabilities and resources, in many cases it’s
your ability to get along and be liked by the powers that be.
