There are two options for gasification.
Option 1. Proceed with the installation of 3 x Burkhardt pellet powered gasifiers. 3 x 165kW
gasifiers. Option 1 will also consist of a Nova N-Plus pellet line and belt drier for the wood chip
and/or sawdust. Residual heat from the gasifiers will be used to dry the woodchips in the belt drier.
3 x 165kW EL gasifiers will produce approximately 780kwTH heat for use in the drying process. If the
driers operate 24/7 in sync with the gasifiers then no additional heat will be required for drying. If
however, the hours of operation are reduced for the drying, then additional heat will be required to
dry the same volume of material in less time. i.e. higher capacity drying line.

Option 2. Install a single system gasifier with a 500MW capacity straight up. This would actually
consist of 1 x 500kW AHT gasifier coupled to a 500kW MAN engine and generator. The cost for
option 2 is about A$800,000 more expensive than Option 1. AHT gasifiers work with dried woodchip
               and not pellets.

This analysis will assume that the project will proceed as per Option 1 above.

               Stage 1 will consist of:
               Gasification:
                   - 3 x 165kW gasifiers to produce 496kW Electrical (El) and 780kW Thermal (Th).

               Pellet Production:
                   - Nova N-Plus pellet press to produce 6mm diameter fuel pellets.
                          o Production capacity 1.5 T per h. Operating 12 hours / day on nightshift.

               Drying:
                   - Belt drier for wood chips, capacity 1.5T / hr

               Gasification Process

Gasification is the process of producing wood gas from the biomass, filtering the tars in the gas,
cooling the gas and then combusting the gas in an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). The combusted
gas has a relatively low BTU value – and this is the reason why large cubic capacity Diesel block ICE’
are used with converted gas heads. These engines need a large volume of gas to extract usable
amount of BTU to be converted into electrical and thermal energy.

The Belt drier will be used to dry the woodchips produced at the sawmill. The residual heat from the
gasifiers will be used to provide thermal heat to dry the wood chips from 50% m.c. to 12%.

Fuel consumption for the gasifiers will be:

               7000 hrs x (165kW x 0.75kg / kW) = 840 Tonnes fuel / gasifier.

               3 x gasifiers will consume 840 T x 3 = 2520 T fuel p.a. This will be provided by the Nova pellet press.
So, in summary the 1.5T p.a. Nova pellet press has sufficient capacity to provide 100% of the
gasifier fuel for 495kW El generation capacity year AND also produce 1530 Tonnes pellets for the
consumer market if it operates on a 12 hour / day working cycle. If the pellet line operates at
night, it will consume self-generated power from the gasifiers.
