a ‘proper’ show!! To our delight (my and my
team) we know we have at least four people
who have won Res.CCs and at least one CC
winner. Plus the lovely gentleman who went to
ask Liz Stannard at Leeds to ask what to do?
He had entered his dog in the GC class as I
had suggested and was now told he had to do
Christina Chapman giving the Have A Go briefing to a Group so asked Liz ‘What’s a Group?’ plus at
at Leeds 2019 least eleven people who were over the moon
because they had qualified their dogs for Crufts.
we can cover all aspects of this although I only
In total we know with certainty we had 18 people
use my lovely juniors to demonstrate triangles
as they know (unlike many adults!!) that a enter further ‘proper shows’. I consider that to
triangle is not the same shape as an egg!! be a success.
Then it is the newcomers turn!! They are I could not do this alone, without the help of my
shown how to stand in line and when to take fabulous team, it would not happen. The Juniors
their dog forward and where to stand it. At this Maisie, Charlotte, May, Megan, Paige, Olivia,
point all my helpers are around the ring behind Kirsty, Lauren, Izzy, Tara & Freya and Adults
the line ups so on hand to answer questions, Linda, Glynis, Heidi, Louise, Susan, Karen,
show how to hold leads etc., and sometimes to, Terry, Paul, David, Nicola, Kate, Kath, Dave,
figuratively, hold nervous hands. We do this at Andy & Sue. Plus those lovely Juniors who
least three times!! The first time it is taken very have judged the classes for me, having been
slow and easy, the second time we change the asked on the day, and have done a fabulous
‘Judge’ and again the third time we have another job. I must also mention Charlotte Page at the
new ‘Judge’. It is a lovely thing to see, the first KC who handles all the paperwork for these
time can be a bit strange, the second time you shows and the Champ. Shows themselves who
can see they are getting the message and the provide the ring and space we need. If I have
third time is very smooth. forgotten anyone please forgive me. I really do
appreciate all of you, hence our de-briefs!!
At this point we do a full line up and have a
class! We have an actual Judge (I try and use
older/more experienced Junior Handlers for
this) who will go through all the motions of a
real show class by ‘going over’ and moving all
exhibits as we have practised. They will then
place 10 dogs in their line up. This is when
the nice bit happens as these 10 are awarded
beautiful rosettes donated by Sharon from
Awardboard Rosettes and all other entrants
get other beautiful rosettes donated by Charles
at Birdbrooke Rosettes. Plus they all get
Certificates from the Kennel Club and ‘goody
bags’ with donations from Our Dogs, Royal
Canin, K9 News, Tony Kett from Cromossel and
others who just turn up with bags or boxes of
samples etc., and just say can you use these?
Plus the photographers Ruth, Alan, Alan &
all. To all who have supported and continue
to support by sponsoring/donating my grateful
thanks.
Basically that is it, BUT, does it work? Well I
know it does because people have come to Christina with one of her many helpers;
me at shows and told me they have entered junior, Maisie Allenby
