Week One | Hope
Scripture Read Isaiah 9:6 and light a candle for Hope.
The first candle, which is purple, symbolizes hope.
Have you ever said, "I hope we win our game tonight"? Often, we use the
word hope when we are unsure of something that we want to happen. In
the Bible, our hope is in something that has not happened but that we
know will happen because God has said that it will. Our hope is in Jesus,
God's expression of how much he loves us. During the season of Advent,
we can share this love with others through acts of kindness.
Hope through Acts of Kindness
• Make holiday decorations for others.
• Donate toys to a children's hospital.
• Compliment a friend.
• Check on an elderly neighbor.
• Donate food to someone in need.
• Smile at everyone.
Pray
Lord, we thank you for the hope we find in you. Thank you for keeping
Your promises. Help me to remember to have hope in You and to
bravely share your hope in our world today. In Jesus' name, amen.
