Food Technology
Aims: In Food Technology, students learn to apply design thinking to address a need
towards the food industry and production processes (Processes Technology). They will
gather information and develop their product against the ingredients and apply the
manufacturing process through a series of steps. Practical skills include chief and hospitality
skills, nutrition and safety.
Competencies: This subject aims to nurture practical students who can problem solve using
innovative thinking. Students will investigate and be influenced by human societal,
environmental, historical technological factors, including nutrition and sustainability.
Students will become creators of Food Technology, not just consumers.
Pathways this course contributes towards: This subject leads into the Hospitality sector,
Business, Bio Sciences, Health and Nutrition.
