Design and Visual Communication
Aims: In Design and Visual Communication, students learn to apply design thinking towards
a product and/or architectural brief. They will gather information and develop their
prototype against aesthetic and functional properties through a series of steps. Using
graphic design, students will present their work in an exhibition. Practical skills include
sketching, models and digital mediums.
Competencies: This subject aims to nurture courageous students who can problem solve
using innovative thinking. Students will investigate and be influenced by human societal,
environmental, historical and technological factors.
Pathways this course contributes towards: This subject leads into Creative Industries,
Business, Engineering, Architecture, Industrial and Graphic Design.
