AISLINN DERBEZ
Renaissance Star
The girl with intense green eyes, who “hadn’t the
faintest idea” what she wanted to be when she
grew up, is now a versatile actress and producer
who is also involved with visual arts like painting,
photography, and sculpture.
Of course, this Renaissance star’s talent is embed-
ded in her DNA. The daughter of actor and come-
dian Eugenio Derbez and voice actress Gabriela
Michel, Aislinn started her artistic journey as a model
when she was only 15. Years later she discovered
her passion and moved to New York City to study
visual arts, as well as take acting lessons at the
famous Actors Studio, where legends like Marlon
Brando and Marilyn Monroe studied their craft.
In 2009 Aislinn returned to Mexico to make her
way in show business, achieving great success in
theater, movies, and TV. From 2012 onwards, she
made her mark in Mexican cinema, with skilled
turns in movies like El cielo en tu mirada, Abolición
de la propiedad, and Yerbamala. Today Aislinn
has turned her emerald gaze to a new challenge:
Hollywood. “Now I’m focused on working in the
United States,” says the 29 year old.
She moved to Los Angeles with her husband,
actor Mauricio Ochmann, whom she met while
filming A la mala. “It was mutual. Mauricio and I
decided to come here to work,” she says.
The change was dramatic, because the way the
system works in Hollywood is completely different
from what she was used to in Mexico, where she
had already established a name for herself. “Here
they call you to audition. They don’t automatically
give you the role,” she says.
But that didn’t deter Aislinn, who is already reap-
ing the fruits of her labor with starring roles in films
like Win it All and Do It Like an Hombre, among
other projects.
Almost at the same time, the couple founded a
production company, A Toda Madre. This initiates
a new stage in Aislinn’s career. One of her goals
is to work on projects that emphasize the role of
women in our society. “I want to point out the
beauty of feminine strength. It’s a challenge to get
closer to women and encourage them to use their
capacities and feel free,” she says.
Without a doubt, the girl who didn’t know what
she wanted to be has found her way. With hard
work and dedication she’s manifesting her dreams.
And she couldn’t be happier. “I believe that the TOMMASO BODDI/WIREIMAGE
best is yet to come!”
