Is It Clean?
Flour
KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR
For all you bread lovers out there, the good news is that you can find
clean flour. But look carefully. The Whole Grains Council describes
the milling process and recommends what to look for when buying
grain products: Whole-wheat flour contains the entire wheat berry,
minus the inedible husk. When “whole” is taken out of the equation,
you are left with highly processed, most likely bleached, milled-
wheat flour that is missing essentially all of the nutrition. Bye-bye,
all-purpose flour. Only purchase 100 percent whole-wheat or whole-
grain flour to know, without a doubt, that it’s clean. Also look for
quinoa flour, brown rice flour, and almond meal flour to expand your
clean alternative options.
