The renovation started June last year and took three months
to finish, it involved major changes in the unit’s original layout
and design. One main request from the family was to demolish
an elongated floor space on the second floor. This extended part
made the living space seem like a regular two-storey unit and not
a loft. “We removed the excess floor space on the second floor to
welcome in more natural light and to give the high-ceiling the unit
deserves,” Isabel explains. To create a more open space, the design
team also tore down walls on the ground floor to make way for a
bigger living area. As requested by the family, both the ground and
second floor tiling were completely altered as well.
During the start of the renovation, major demolition works in
the unit were completely prohibited by the condo administration.
“Demolition works are always tricky for condominiums because
you have the problem of other residents complaining about the
