“Since there is no purple, what color do you choose for your cast?” asked Dr. Stafford.
“Hmm-m-m,” said Aimi. “It’s hard to choose. It's very hard to choose.”
Tad stood on one foot and then on the other. He was waiting for Aimi to choose.
“I choose pink,” said Aimi. “May I have pink for my cast?”
“Certainly,” said the orthopedic surgeon with ebony skin and big black eyes. “Pink is a good choice. The names of your family members and friends will show up nicely on a pink cast.”
“If I had a cast,” said Tad, “I’d pick black. It wouldn’t get dirty if it was black.”
“Well, you always give up something to get something,” said Dr. Stafford, smiling. “Your cast wouldn’t show the dirt very much but names don’t show up very clearly on
black.”
“Oh,” said
Tad. “I hadn’t thought of that.”
