Schools, Sports & A Healthy Future

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that nearly HALF our children said they had no
physical education classes in an average week. In New York City, that number was 20.5 percent, compared
with 14.4 percent a decade earlier, according to the C.D.C. (Kids SHOULD PLAY 1 hour after school every day.)

Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, found just 20 percent of elementary schools in San
Francisco were meeting the state’s requirements: 20 minutes per day. ( St. Peter, our kids NEED your help.)

When I was a boy in school in the 1940’s, gym classes were mandatory for ALL children.

Since then, we have progressively coddled our children so they no longer can play sports, go to gym or even
play tag in the school yard. All to keep them “safe” while preventable obesity kills them just a few years later.

Today, we drive them home from school and they sit at home playing online games. Unless they also learn
healthy AND ENJOYABLE exercise, the opposite page and the following pages are your children’s future.
There’s really no point trying to get adults to lose weight when we ignore the children. YOUR CHILDREN.

Bring sports & exercise back to your schools. Yes, accidents will happen. OBESITY IS WORSE & GUARANTEED.

Remember the chart on PAGE: 50 here Japan has lowest obesity rate and we have highest ? Well, part of the
reason is their children walk to school and have gym classes AND COOKING CLASSES – look online it’s amazing.
