Rocky Mountain House Airshow
by Ralf Wermann
July was a busy month for airshows in Alberta, offering fans and aviation enthusiast numerous opportunities
to attend an airshow. For those who enjoy twilight airshows, the Rocky Mountain House Airshow is an
airshow that must be seen. This year’s airshow was held on Wednesday evening, July 25th and featured a
variety of military and civilian performances. Static displays, including vintage aircraft enhanced the event.
Yellow Thunder was the opening performance of the airshow. Drew and David Watson flew their yellow
Harvards, performing graceful aerobatics in close formation. It’s a thrill to see these vintage aircraft fly and to
hear the thundering sound of Pratt & Whitney Wasp radial engines, making “Yellow Thunder” live up to their
name.
