1. Learners should be able to distinguish between abbreviations and acronyms.
2. They should be able to integrate abbreviations and acronyms in their writing.
3. They should be able to understand the concept of synonyms and antonyms.
4. They should be able to use variety of words in their writing.
5. Learners should apply the concepts in their presentation.
HOW?
TOPIC: language
INTRODUCTION: (10 MINUTES)
The teacher will commence the lesson by stimulating the brains of the learners with the
spelling test. The learners will have to spell the words the teacher is pronouncing to them.
Some of the concepts will be the ones that they will be discussing for the day. The learners
will give out answers to the teacher by writing them on the smart board. This activity will
take approximately five minutes. From there the teacher will underline the concepts that
he will be discussing with the learners for the day. To check the prior knowledge of the
learners the teacher will ask them what is that they know about these concepts and they
should write their answers down. Learners will share what they wrote with the class.
LESSON INTEGRATION: 30 MINUTES
The teacher will give the learners proper explanations about the concepts. He will
distribute the notes to the learners and display them on power point. The teacher will state
the concept of abbreviation to the learners.
Secondly, he will ask learners to share any sorts of abbreviations that they know of. The
teacher will then write them out on the board for the learners to see. He will then show
learners how the abbreviations are built. The teacher will write some of the abbreviations
for the learners to work out.
