                                               Heavy Equipment Operations
Heavy Equipment Operations is a 6-credit course where students learn to operate heavy machinery like
backhoe loaders, bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, and wheel loaders using simulators. They refine their skills
through independent simulation work, mastering equipment operation techniques and critical thinking for
real-world applications. After meeting performance standards in simulations, students can work on local job
sites under professional supervision. The program also offers certifications upon completion for workforce
            entry.

                                                 Heavy Equipment 1 (68B0)
                                                   2 Units Grades 10,11,12

No Prerequisite: Students will learn about trade, safety, and operator roles, as well as identifying heavy equip-
ment and basic operation techniques. Later, they’ll be introduced to utility tractors, earthmoving equipment,
            and grading machinery.
                                                 Heavy Equipment 2 (68B1)
                                                   2 Units Grades 10,11,12
Prerequisite: Heavy Equipment Level 1: Students will explore forklifts, dump trucks, and scrapers, delve into
excavation math, interpret civil drawings, and get hands-on with skid steers using simulators.
                                                 Heavy Equipment 3 (68B2)
                                                   2 Units Grades 10,11,12

Prerequisite: Heavy Equipment 1 & 2: Students will experience motor graders, dozers, and excavators, focus-
ing on finishing, grading, compaction equipment, and backhoes. Simulators will aid in equipment operation
training. CDL permit preparation is included, and Intern positions may be available for eligible students.
