Gaff topsail halyard bend
This is a simplifi ed version of
the studding sail bend, omitting
the fi nal tuck under the fi rst
turn. Like its more secure
sister, it cannot be tied while
the standing part is under load.
It is however an exceedingly
compact and quickly tied knot.
