October 2018

       Dear Sorors:
October has been a very busy month for us as we engaged in several 90th Anniversary Special Events leading up to the culminating event of Alpha Kappa
Omega's 90th Anniversary Gala on December 15, 2018! Please review our chapter's Social Media sites for photos and details!! Our sixth Special Event Stop
will be a Reception on Friday, November 2, given in our honor by Top Ladies of Distinction at their Headquarters house, 2607 Prospect, Houston, Texas
77004. Thank you Gala General Chairman Soror Joyce Jacquet, the four Co-Chairmen Sorors Bettye Narcisse, Barbara Fields, Rhonda Wiley Keith and Jakki
Wiley and all Steering Committee Sub-Committee Chairmen and members and Partnerships for your enthusiastic and energetic efforts towards our Ga-
la! The Gala will be a most memorable and magnificent event, which you must not miss!! Our Gala will be the Party of the Season as we CELEBRATE 90
years of Sisterhood and Service in the Greater Houston area.

October continued to keep us busy with our various gatherings: The Southeast Texas Cluster Retreat at the Westin, where Alpha Kappa Omega won FIRST
PLACE, Large Chapter for the Retreat Service Project of donating the most shoes for Souls4Soles; the Chapter Retreat at the Hotel ZaZa Memorial City
where we received informative Workshops and fun bonding Sisterly Activities, and a Forum Panel of Entrepreneur chapter Sorors; the Joint Chapter
Meeting where we Bonded through Bowling at University of Houston Central Campus, with our Undergraduates from Gamma Psi, Epsilon Lambda, and
Omicron Gamma and where we were graced with a special visit and Words of Reflection from our 18th Supreme Basileus Soror Mattelia Bennet Grays.

After the time of the Boule, we hit the ground running with planning and implementation of our new Supreme Basileus Glenda Baskin Glover's International
Program of Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service. You heard great committee reports from the Committee Chairmen of the Signature Pro-
gram #CAP, Program Target 1-HBCU For Life: A Call to Action, Program 2-Women's Health Wellness and Nutrition, Program Target 3-Building Your Economic
Legacy, and Program Target 4-The Arts!

At the November sorority meeting, you will hear the committee report of Program Target 5-Global Impact. The committee has planned several activities of
impact and will also announce a new innovative future action plan for Global Impact never before done by Alpha Kappa Omega. This new innovative con-
cept of providing service by the chapter is in the infant feasibility planning stages and will be a collaborative effort with one of our new chapter committees
created last year, the International Exchange Committee. Stay tuned for more details at the November sorority meeting!
Please also join us for the "Savoring Our Pearls" Retention Party of retaining our pearls to celebrate all of our Reactivated Sorors and Transfer Sorors who

Texas 77004. We look forward to continued welcoming of our members and appreciate your time, skills and talents!

The Arts! Program Target-4 is excited about our Partnership with City Ballet and the Nutcracker Ballet performances and our service roles from start to
finish to the culminating event of the performances at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Wednesday, November 14 and where we will also present a [financial]
check to the City Ballet on stage. Thank you to Chairman Soror Eugenia Cain, Co-Chairmen Sorors Fennoyee Thomas, Ruth Robbins and Alfreda Henry and
special efforts of committee member Soror Krystle Simpson, and all committee members for your dedicated efforts of ensuring success in our provision of
service to the City Ballet. I encourage our chapter to come and support these efforts for the Nutcracker Ballet performances on Wednesday, November 14.

And thank you to Chairman Soror Laura Rousseve Allen and Co-Chairmen Sorors Charlene James and Ideana Wade, for your Health sub-committee efforts
