        Sorors Began HBCU Challenge at the September Sorority Meeting


         On September 15, 2018, at the September Sorority meeting, Alpha Kappa Omega Sorors were asked to wear paraphernalia from the his-


         torical Black College or University (HBCU) they attended.  This was a precursor to the HBCU Community Impact Day on Monday, Septem-

         ber 17.  On September 17, Our Supreme Basileus, Dr. Glenda Glover challenged all Sorors to donate to a HBCU and help raise 1 million
         dollars in one day. Sorors nationwide met the challenge and raised 1 .2 million dollars for HBCUs in one day!












          Alpha Kappa Omega Sorors Help Houston Students Audition for the Inner-City Nutcracker Project


         On September 8 and September 22, twenty-two AK Omega Sorors volunteered at six local sites, Bastian, Crespo, Blackshear Elementary
         schools, Sharpstown Community Center, Gregory Lincoln Education Center, and Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center to help register

         and to judge approximately 160 children for the inner-city Nutcracker Project.   To be eligible for auditioning for the roles of Soldiers,
         Angels, Party Boys, Mice, Mother Ginger Children and Pages in the full-length professional ballet, children between ages 6-12 with no
         previous dance experience and/or cannot afford dance lessons were given the chance to audition.  Sixty-one children were chosen for
         the two performances on November 14, 2018 at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

         Sorors Donate School Supplies for 90  Anniversary

         Event
         AK Omega Sorors brought school supplies to the September Sorority
         meeting to be donated to the Houston Independent School District.

         The donation will commemorate the 90  Anniversary of the charter-
         ing of the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter in Houston and will honor
         Soror Hattie Mae White, the first African American Board Member of
         the Houston Independent School District.
