20 20 KELMĖ DISTRICT

Kelmė district, located near the historic Via Hanza road, attracts visitors with the diversi-
ty of its land: the beautiful bends of the Dubysa, Venta, and other rivers, pure lakes, and
numerous heritage sites. You will be able to experience the peace provided by nature
in Kelmė district: there are as many as 7 nature reserves in the district (Šilkainiai geo-
morphological reserve, Šatrija landscape reserve, and other) and 4 regional parks (Ty-
tuvėnai, Kurtuvėnai, Dubysa, Varniai), which are abundant in untouched nature, unique
natural monuments...
Kelmė district also has something to offer for culture lovers: events of enchanting classi-
cal music, sacred and folk-art events, exclusive churches, and peculiar museums.

31. KELMĖ MANOR
Kelmė Manor Ensemble is a state-protected cul-
tural heritage object, valued as a rarely preser-
ved baroque-style Lithuanian provincial manor
homestead. To this day, nine buildings of this
homestead of the manor period survived. Kelmė
manor is the place where the uprising of 1863
against Tsarist Russia first started in Lithuania.
