Media and Information Literacy Status
Overview of media and information literacy status
Exhibition 1: Thai populations are able to search essential information for daily basis, and able to
locate information’s location.
Today, there are 69.1 million Thais, and the number keep increasing. In this
number, more than 53 percent of populations reside in urban areas that is able
to access the Internet from private firms, which covered up to 82 percent (around

52 million Thais) of the total of nation wide’s the Internet usage. Recently,
Thailand Government supported the Internet infrastructure by setting up “Net
Pracharat” (the national Internet network) project for expanding the high-speed
Internet service coverage to villages that is not able to access the Internet.
Moreover, this project aimed to reduce digital gap in Thailand. As a result, Thai
populations are able to search information according to survey dimension in
search and locate the information according to this competency framework. The
average score of Thai population’s competency in proper media search is 76.8,
