• After de-energizing, measure the clearance (pinion

clearance) between the pinion and the backstop device with
a vernier caliper.

a. Magnetic switch inhalation test.
• Separate the magnetic field coil wire from Terminal M of FR
solenoid switch

• Connect a 12V battery between the S and M terminals.

.Caution

The test must be carried out quickly (within 10s) to
prevent the coil burnt BR

• Turn the ignition switch to "ON" and the pinion will pop

up. If the pinion does not pop up, replace the starter.

b. Electromagnetic switch maintenance test.

• Separate the magnetic field coil wire from Terminal M of
solenoid switch
• Connect a 12V battery between the S terminal and the
starter body.
Caution
The test must be carried out quickly (within 10s) to
prevent the coil burnt

• After the pinion reaches the position of pinion backstop

device, disconnect the connecting circuit between the S

terminal and the starter body and the pinion shall bounce

quickly.
• If the pinion remains in the pop-up position, the system is
operating normally. If the pinion bounces, replace the starter
to maintain the circuit to be open.
3. Install the starter

a. Install the starter to the mounting position, and install the
fixing bolts and tighten.
Torque: 65~78N•m
