TR-8 Transmission and Control Mechanism - Clutch
Air exhaustion of clutch system
Overview
After the clutch oil is changed, air will enter into the clutch system. When the driver depresses the
clutch pedal, the clutch cylinder pushes the clutch oil into the clutch cylinder. If there is air in the clutch
oil at this time, because the air is a compressible object, the effective stroke of piston rod of the
clutch slave cylinder will be reduced, so that the clutch is not completely separated, resulting in difficult gear
engagement.
Air exhaustion
Caution
Exhausting work needs two people cooperation.
1. Reasons of exhausting
If air enters into the clutch piping, it can cause clogging of the clutch. Therefore, when there may be air in the
clutch piping, exhausting operation must be carried out.
2. Under what conditions need exhaustion
a. There is oil leakage during maintenance and the clutch oil level in the clutch reservoir is too low.
b. Clutch piping removed during clutch service.
c. Remove the booster pump, storage tank, clutch master cylinder.
3. Exhausting
a. Open the front flip-over cover.
b. Check fluid level in reservoir and fill clutch oil.
Caution
Fill the clutch reservoir with oil to the specified
fluid level and fill the clutch oil continuously to
maintain the fill level during the discharge operation.
Danger
Do not allow the clutch oil to splash on the paint or
on the skin, or it must be cleaned immediately.
