BASIC EXAMINATIONS

When the fault cannot be confirmed by DTC check, all circuits considered to be likely to
cause malfunctions should conduct troubleshooting analysis. In many cases, by performing
the basic engine checks shown in the following flow chart, you can quickly and effectively
find out the location that caused the fault. Therefore, in the exclusion of engine fault, it is 62
very necessary to adopt this detection method.
1. BATTERY VOLT
Note :
This check is made when the engine is stopped or the ignition switch is at LOCK .
Check results

Result Go to

Approx 12V To step 2

Lower than 12V Replace the battery or charge the battery
2. Check whether the engine starts
Check if the result is normal?
YES>To step 3.
NO>Removing fault phenomenon table .
3. Check the air filter
Check if the result is normal ( contains dust, dirt, or oil )?
YES>To step 4.
NO>Replace or clean the filter.
4. Check idling speed
Check if the result is normal?
YES>To step 5.
NO>Removing fault phenomenon table .
5. Check fuel pressure
Check if the result is normal?
YES>Complete.
NO> Check ends. Expel fuel pressure fault.
