The inventor of this knot was Owen K. Nuttall of the
International Guild of Knot Tyers in 1987. It is a modification
of the clove hitch, but far stronger and more secure. It is
useful for attaching a line to a spar or rope, and can be
used for either a lengthways or right-angled pull. Its value
is that it can be tied either in the end of the rope or in the
bight, and is easy to release. crossIng Knots

Take the working end
behind the anchor point
for a third time and bring
it up diagonally from
right to left, making it
go over and then under
as shown in one final
locking movement.

Pull both ends to tighten
the knot.
