The angler’s loop is a simple way of tying a loop in the end
of a line, which is easy to release. Originally it was designed
to be tied in mono-filament fishing line but it is also useful
when you need to throw a rope over an item such as a post
(to tie up a boat or when you need to attach something to a
                loop of rope, for example).
It fell out of favour with sailors because it tended to jam
in ropes made of natural fibre, but this problem has largely wrap and tucK Knots
been solved with the use of modern synthetic ropes. It is a
strong, secure knot but the drawback is that it is extremely
difficult to undo once pulled tight.

                                       Bring the working end up
                                       behind the second loop
                                       you made in Step 2.

                                       Now pull the second loop
                                       to the right, under and
                                       through the outer loop.

                                       knot.
