Rope seizing is a technique that is used when you want to
hold two pieces of rope together using cord. It is a good
alternative to knotting, although not quite as strong as splicing
(which is when you join two ropes together by partially
unravelling and then intertwining the strands). A common
seizing is generally used to join two parallel sections of rope
or, as in this example, making an eye in a rope. wrap and tucK Knots

                                          Make a closed loop in
                                          your rope. Bind the two
                                          pieces together with
                                          cord by first tying a
                                          clove hitch (see pages
                                          68–69).

                                          Using the working end of
the cord, start to make a
                                          series of tightly wrapped
                                          turns. Make sure they
                                          sit neatly next to one
                                          another.
