Club Crafters is a group of individuals who come together to promote the education,
art, and legacy of crocheting, knitting, and other craft projects while setting a standard
         for skill, quality, and knowledge.
They meet every Tuesday in the Library at 10AM. Denise Caputo heads up the group.
She keeps the group motivated with many projects such as making blankets for Sacra-
mento Blankets for Sacramento Kids serving Sacramento and Placer Counties. The
blankets are given to children in homeless shelters, hospitals, schools, etc. They make
red hats for the Heart Association Little Hats, Big Hearts drive and donate items to
Sacramento Shriners Hospital. Other ventures include hats for the homeless and prayer
shawls for various area churches. These are great endeavors to give back to the com-
munity while doing something fun with your neighbors.
In April they contribute to Helping Hands Fashion Show by providing a gift basket
with their handmade goods. Every year they participate in the Club’s Open House in
October; stop by their table to see their finished projects.
Whatever your craft or if you are interested in embarking on a new skill, there are Club Crafters
many talented individuals who will teach and share their ideas; stop by.

In late 2010, The Club’s Democratic Club began with phone calls to like-minded neighbors. We started
meeting in homes pretty informally with a desire to connect, discuss current issues, and get to know local
candidates. We grew so large that we moved to the Retreat card room. We implemented a donation jar to
pay for the once a month room rental. We found experts to talk about senior issues (CARA), healthcare,
labor, community growth, ballot propositions, and other pertinent issues.
After growing and exceeding the fire code limit, we moved to the Wellness Room. We soon became offi-
cial members of the Placer County and CA Democratic Party. We became a Charter Group to Central
Committee. In 2017, we applied for Shared Interest Group status, and soon after that, we became a SIG.
We are thrilled we are a Shared Interest Group, as it grants us privileges, and a place to meet that doesn’t
                                                         require fees.
We share the same purpose and drive to inform our neighbors on important issues, be active in the com-
munity, help charitable causes, and support our local, state & federal candidates through grass roots ef-
Democratic Club forts and fundraisers. We participate in Voter Registration efforts, write letters to our legislators, and in-
form our membership regarding essential issues. We also march in parades, and are activists for a multi-
                                                         tude of issues.
Besides trying to “Save the World”, we have great parties and lots of fun! We welcome everyone to come to one of our meetings or parties and see what we
are all about. We now meet the first Wednesday of every month. Our meetings’ official start is at 7:00 P.M., but we usually meet a little early to socialize, and
enjoy treats. We hope you can make one of our meetings. Be prepared to have a great time, and learn a lot!

The Club Quilter's are one of the newer SIG groups here at the Retreat. We
were established in 2016 and have been getting bigger and stronger every
month. We meet every Friday in the Library from 10 am to noon. Everyone
is welcome regardless of skill level. New to quilting, we have mentors.
Need a refresher, come join us on a Friday, we can help. Many of our mem-
bers show their quilts in quilt shows around the region, and nothing makes
us happier that a field trip to quilt shows and shops around the area.
On the third Friday of each month, we have a day of sewing in the Library
from 9am to 3pm where we bring our machines and sew (and talk) a lot, get
expert advice, finish a few UFO's (unfinished objects), and of course start
our next project. Some months on the third Friday, we head out into the un-
charted, wonderful world of quilt stores, where we purchase gorgeous fabric
and get inspiration for our next projects. Quilter's never have enough fab-
ric. We have sayings like "Yes, really do need all this fabric." "Never un-
derestimate the power of a woman (or man) with a sewing machine." And Club Quilters
my very favorite "The best way to tell if you're a fabric addict, is to check
your stash of fabric. If you can see the ceiling , it's not that bad!"
Please join the Quilter's at the Resident Open House on Friday, October 4. We will have a booth that will display some of our favorite projects and we have
created two opportunity quilts that you will be able to win with the purchase of tickets.
Come join us on a Friday, we would love to meet you, and turn you into a quilter. It is great fun.
