It is important that we prepare the soil so well that we our roots are deep
and strong so we can deal with trials and enjoy a strong healthy spiritual
life. We need to be able to rid our lives of the weeds so that God’s seed
can grow and flourish in our lives and we can enjoy a warm and healthy
relationship with God and our fellow man. Let me share with you a few
ways that you can do this.
First join us for worship every, yes that’s every, Sunday.

In Hebrews 10:25 we read So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that
we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the
promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see
how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not
avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other
on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.
Note the commands to not avoid worshipping together but also
encourage love and to help out – in other words to build strong,
supportive relationships as soil for the soul.
Secondly you need to pull the weeds and thorns, the cares, and desires of
life. The multiply rapidly and choke out the Words of God not only for
you but for all around you.
Karen Hughes, counsellor to President Bush, left his staff so that she
could return home and spend more time with her family. She discovered
that if you let money and worldly desires move to the centre stage of
your life and become an essential need then friendship, volunteer
service, family needs and spirituality are choked out. You need to
prepare your soil by restructuring your life. If you are pursuing worldly
wealth then pursue spiritual riches.
