The Ministry of Agriculture,
Rural Transformation, Forestry
and Fisheries (MARTFF) in
collaboration with the Market
Information Organization of the
Americas (MIOA) held a work-
shop from the 21st of August
2017 to the 22nd of August
2017 at the E-Government
Training Centre located on the
4th floor of the St Vincent and
the Grenadines Post Office.
The workshop was geared to-
wards training the necessary
personnel on how to operate
and implement the new online
On the 21st of August, Mr.
James French, One of the
members of the Technical
Secretariat for the MIOA
conducted the first part of
the training with the admin-
istrators who would be in
charge of entering the loca-
tion and zones of the mar-
ket, inserting the markets,
commodities, varieties, ori-
gin, sales units and the links
of these commodities to a
specific market.
He began by providing a
brief background on the
MIOA where he mentioned
that there was an initial
training done in 2014 where
persons expressed their
misgivings which assisted in
improving the system today.
He also gave some charac-
teristics and advantages of
the system.
He handed out manu-
als to each adminis-
trator on how to go
about providing the
required information
and gave some prac-
tice.

port personnel was in at-
tendance where they par-
ticipated in the training and
provided brief remarks.
On the 22nd of August,
Data collectors and Market
researchers joined the
training where Mr. French Market commodity form
briefly revised what was
done the previous day. He
taught the data collectors,
how to enter the prices of
commodities in various
markets to the system and
the market researchers
were taught how to create
reports with the information
of commodities in the lay-
