Definition

               The following definition shall apply in this Handbook:


                         ITEM                                     DEFINITION

                                         A  person  as  defined  under  the  Employment  Act  1955  and
                                         under the employment of the Company including permanent,
                                         contract and temporary employment. Where an Employee is
                                         employed  under  a  fixed  term  contract,  the  terms  and
                Employee                 conditions of his contract shall apply where they differ from
                                         the policies in this Handbook.

                                         “Employee”  includes  all  staff  employed  by  the  Company
                                         whether male or female.
                                         Human Resource Department of the Company in which the
                HRD
                                         relevant Employee is employed.

                                         Spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters of the
                Immediate Family
                                         relevant Employee.


                Extended Family          Parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren.


                                         An Employee’s first legal wife or husband. In the case of a
                                         Muslim Employee who has more than 1 spouse, he has to

                                         declare to the Company the name of his first legal spouse for
                                         this purpose.


                Company                  Company within the LGB Group.


                Group                    LGB Group and all its subsidiaries in Malaysia.
                                         The basic monthly salary payable to an Employee. It does not
                Basic Salary             include  any  allowance,  incentive  or  other  monetary
                                         entitlement.

                                         Refers to a whole day as may be arranged by the Company
                Rest Day                 for the Employee to take his weekly rest. Where the Employee
                                         is allowed more than one rest day in a week, the last of such
                                         rest days shall be deemed the rest day.

                                         The time during which an Employee is at the disposal of the

                Hours of work            Company and is not free to utilise the time for his own
                                         purpose or movement.
