The Brave Faced Woman
She looks stunting from head to toe. Everyone in and out of her circle
respects her confidence, boldness, strength, and all her accomplish-
ments. Looks can be so deceiving. No one really knows what stares
back at this woman daily as she exams her natural beauty in the mir-
ror. She is fighting a battle that’s private yet so painful. Her mind
clouded with thoughts: “what will they say?” “what will they think?”
and “how will my image be affected?” She is dealing with over-
whelming depression, anxiety, feelings of unworthiness, thoughts of
her failures, thoughts of suicide, and battling the thoughts of no one
can know this about me. This brave faced woman has allowed being a
“Shero” to others blind her thought process. Isn’t it amazing how we
will take care of everyone else but neglect ourselves; knowing we are
struggling at an unhealthy capacity? If we are honest, most of us have
walked in these shoes at some point and time in our lives. Most of us
suffered in silence because we do not want to hear, “ pray again, you
must be doing something wrong”, “you just weak”, “go to church and
let the pastor pray those demons off you.”
I’m unapologetic when I say run from people who are uninformed,
misinformed, and demonize your mental health. Remember we must
take care of our temple (1Corinthians 6: 19-20) and that’s mind, body,
and soul.
If our minds are unhealthy, our whole body becomes a shipwreck.
When we shipwrecked, we sink into despair.
It’s okay not to be okay. Just remember it’s so many resources out
